In our very first episode, we adopt a "Think Like a Rookie" mindset by diving into 5 practical steps we can take to commit to growth and development.
On this episode, we navigate through 5 practical steps we can take to “think like a rookie” through our leadership journeys.
Why do we want to adopt a “think like a rookie” mindset? Because we’re ALWAYS going to have a long way to go and a long way to grow. Rookies do a great job of imagining the possibilities without limitations. (2:32)
1. Expect failures. We need to believe for success, but expect to fail, because at the end of the day, let’s acknowledge that things are not always going to go our way. We’re going to make mistakes along the way, we’re going to lose at times, and we’re going to experience failure at some point in our lives. (3:53)
2. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. It’s okay to be content, but not comfortable. Growth and comfort can’t coexist. A way that we can LIVE outside of our comfort zone is to sharpen our axe. (6:15)
3. Commit to being a lifelong learner. Become a C.I.A. member. Coachable, Intelligent, Attitude. Acknowledge that literally every person we come in contact with has the possibility to teach us something that we don’t know. (9:06)
4. Hire a coach or a mentor. Every one of us should find someone in our life to learn from. Find someone you trust, and allow them to speak truth into your life. (12:22)
5. Put in the work. Don’t settle. Always strive to be better than yesterday. Stay focused. Be consistent, and don't compare your day 1 to someone else's day 1,000. (16:48)
Consistency is the key. These 5 steps allow us to grow exponentially.
